McDonald's Vanilla Iced Coffee: Tantalizing New Choice for Your Morning Java Fix

Nanette Haz
On my search for a cheaper alternative to Starbucks Frappuccino for my daily coffee fix, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a McDonald's coupon in the mail. I had a coupon to buy one iced coffee and get one free. I decided to try one of the McDonald's coupons.

Ordering

While out and about I asked a friend to come along and try the new coffee with me. The drive thru, was simpler than driving to Starbucks, finding parking, standing in line, and then ordering. The cost of the large sized coffee including sales tax was $2.13.

Taste

The first sip was extremely sweet. Before you indulge in your first sip, be sure to gently swirl the cup. The flavored syrup was sitting right on top. After a gentle shake and letting the syrup settle, it was fabulous. The coffee is smooth the whole way through. At some coffee shops, the iced coffees are slightly bitter. The drink only gets better as the ice, ices over. It takes quite a while for the ice to melt. Some coffee drinks, the ice melts before you finish the drink.

The 32-ounce coffee took a while to finish. I put it in the back of the fridge when I arrived at home. Later on that evening, I gave the drink a quick swirl. The taste was just as great, even after sitting in the fridge for a few hours. The ice was still in the drink, and was not watered down, even while taking the last sip.

Nutrition Information

Honestly, the iced coffee definitely tastes a bit naughty. I knew there was no way, that this was a diet drink. It is way to smooth and creamy tasting for that.

The medium iced coffee contains 190 calories and 28 grams of sugar, and the large size has 270 calories, and 43 grams of sugar. How much sugar is that really? A gram is equal to 7 tablespoons of sugar.

Java addiction.

After trying the McDonald's iced coffee, I definitely will continue ordering this drink. The $2 price tag, does not feel as painful on the wallet. Compared to Starbuck's drinks, which are $3 to $4 a cup, this is a great alternative. I purchased the Sunday paper, and there was another coupon. Yes, the next time I was out I ordered and enjoyed another iced coffee.
