Adopt a Cat or Dog for Christmas from Mchenry County Animal Control
About Mchenry County Animal Control. Mchenry County Animal Control rescues sick, injured, and stray animals and works to reunite lost pets to their owners whenever possible. Unfortunately, many of the cats and some of the dogs that end up at Mchenry County Animal Control are never reclaimed by their owners. Mchenry County Animal Control also receives animals that have been relinquished by their owners. If the animals that are never reclaimed or are relinquished by their owners are adoptable, they become available for to the public for adoption.
Adoption Information. The adoption fee for all cats and dogs from Mchenry County Animal Control is only $80. This fee covers spaying or neutering, all vaccinations including rabies, deworming, and microchipping for both cats and dogs, heartworm testing for dogs, and FELV & FIV testing for cats. It also includes a collar and tag and a physical exam at a participating veterinary clinic.
You can view the animals up for adoption from Mchenry County Animal Control by going to their Adoption Center in Crystal Lake located at 100 N. Virginia Street or online at Petharbor.com or Petfinder.com. When you go online at one of these sites, you will see lists with pictures of animals available for adoption. If you see a picture of an animal you are interested in, you can click on it for more information. Once you find a cat or dog you think you want, you can contact Mchenry County Animal Control by phone. They will then take you through the next steps of the adoption process.
Mchenry County Animal Control Adoption Center hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. They are closed on Sundays and holidays.
PetSmart Dog Adoptions. PetSmart stores work with local animal shelters and non-profit organizations to find homes for adoptable cats, dogs, kittens, and puppies. Mchenry County Animal Control takes dogs and/or puppies (not cats or kittens) to the Mchenry, Illinois PetSmart store for on-site adoptions on select Saturdays from 11a.m. to 2p.m. The staff and volunteers will help you find a dog or puppy that fits well with your family and schedule. Once you have chosen a dog or puppy, adoption forms are filled out and adoption fees are paid on site. If you want to find out if Mchenry County Animal Control will be at the Mchenry PetSmart on a specific Saturday, you can call PetSmart or Mchenry County Animal Control.
