Me, You, Us
I wander around the world never leaving my own apartment
I have friends, friends inside my head.
They keep me company, they keep me warm.
I have three heads, each one smarter than the last.
Two of us are fighting in a corner
over the last ride down a waterfall.
You keep your distance,
you shy away,
cross to the other side of the street when you see me coming.
Then you go home and smack your children
and cut the heads off the chickens in your backyard.
I ask you now,
Which one of us is crazy?
And I watch you
condemn everything that isn't you
fight over religion like you're arguing that the earth is flat--
This is our world today.
So I'll be happy
touring the coasts and hiking the mountains
All inside my head.
