Mean Green Bath, Tub & Tile Cleaner Review

I have an old cast iron bath tub in my home. I love it because it is deep and it is fun to bathe in. There is only one problem it is not easy to clean. I have looked for many cleaners that would get my tub clean. I decided to try Mean Green Bath, Tub & Tile Cleaner because normally Mean Green has great products. They are very affordable and can be found easily at your local Dollar General and Family Dollar stores. I picked up this bottle for only two dollars at the family dollar because it is fairly inexpensive and like I said most of the time their products are great.

There are many things that drew my attention to the bottle. The first was the Mean Green Name. The second was that this is a Bonus Size bottle. The third is that it is supposed to remove soap scum, calcium, lime, rust, and hard water stains. I figured that this would work great on the tub because the tub is somewhat porous. I figured it would also work great on the walls around the tub. We actually have a shower kit installed, so it is not getting sprayed directly on the walls.

I decided to first try to clean the tub with it. I sprayed the cleaner all over the inside of the tub and let it stand for a few minutes as the bottle of cleaner had directed me to do. I then used a scrubber to rub the solution over. I then rinsed the tub. I was shocked and amazed when it didn't even remove hardly any of the soap scum. I then decided that maybe it was because of the porous aspect of the tub. I decided to give the product another chance and try to clean the shower kit. I sprayed it and did the same thing as I had done before. This time the product worked. It also does help clean your faucets and sinks.

Overall this is a good product; it just doesn't work on an old cast iron bath tub. It might work well on a newer tub. It is easy to use, but there are a lot of fumes from the product. Beware when you are using in an enclosed area. Make sure you have a window open! If you are looking for a product to clean soap scum, this product works very well on nonporous surfaces. Give it a try and see if it works for you.
