There are many different organizations that allow you to make a donation in someone's name and it is one of the most feel-good gifts that you can give. Instead of a toaster or nick-nack that may or may not get used, their gift can be making a true difference in someone's life by helping to raise them up out of poverty and to meet their basic needs.
Your friend or loved one will feel great knowing their gift is helping someone, you will feel great for giving it, and the person that you help will feel great as well making it a win-win-win situation.
To make gift giving easier many charitable organizations have started setting up online "shopping malls" where you can purchase charitable gifts directly that are then given to families in need. For instance, you may choose to purchase an animal like a goat or pig, fishing supplies, wheelchairs, eye surgery, prosthetic limbs, blankets, clothing or other necessities.
Two of the most popular charitable malls are Oxfam and World Vision , both of which offer a wide assortment of charitable gifts that you can order in someone's name. You just select the gift, enter your friend or family member's information and complete the purchase. The charity then sends a special card to your friend or family member telling them how the gift has helped someone in need.
If you prefer you can also donate closer to home. You may want to consider donating food to your local food bank in someone's name or donating to local charities. Helping can be as simple as providing toys, books or clothing to a local charity to honor someone special in your own life.
Charitable gifts are a wonderful way to give someone in your life a meaningful gift while at the same time giving help to a person or family who can really benefit from it. It is the spirit of giving and compassion in action which is what Christmas is all about.
