Run for a Reason

Medals4Mettle is a non-profit organization that collects medals and gives them directly to people fighting illnesses. This organization was founded by Steven Isenberg, an M.D. in Indianapolis, in 2005. Steven gave a finishers medal from a marathon he ran to a colleague of his that was fighting prostate cancer. His friend appreciated it so much that Steven decided to start Medals4 Mettle.

Fighting cancer or other diseases is a long and difficult process. It is just as much a marathon to fight off cancer, as it is to run 26 miles (or however long a particular marathon is). The medals that are given to people, helps to encourage them and remind them that they are not alone in their battle.

If you are a runner and would like to get involved with Medals4Mettle, check out the website at Medals4Mettle.org. There is always room for more help and support, so even if you are not a runner, see if you can help in some other way. There is always a need for volunteers.

Whether or not you have been directly affected by someone with an illness or just have a heart to help, Medals4Mettle is a great organization to join with. With all the different organizations to choose from it can be difficult sometimes, but it never hurts to give it a try. And who knows, maybe this organization can give you inspiration to run harder. Good luck with your next run!
