This election is to important, things are too bad for too many families for journalist to not be doing their jobs.
There have been halve truths on both sides laid out before the public without with no fact checking go on with the so call main stream. What has happened to the standards that once turn true reporters into household names, like Walter Cronkett? Men and woman reporters alike act as if it is more important to be first then right.
John McCain and Barack Obama have both said and done things that should have been brought to the forefront of the American, but depending on the reporter there is a clear bias one way or the other and that should not be the case.
I do not care about their personal lives to a large degree, but what I do care about is the issues as I am sure many Americans do. What are they going to do if elected to make my family's life and me better?
I want to hear them pressed on the issues. This election is too important for gotcha questions. If they change sides on an issue I want to know why, we as Americans have a right to know.
I do not think reporters should be using talking points from either side, lay the facts before us as they are. I do not want to hear the opinion of the anchor, just the facts. Be a vassal from which the facts will come without spin.
If a candidate lies about something, call him/her on it. If they run a false ad, call them on it, simple. If they cannot win the election on the facts and telling the American people the truth maybe they shouldn't be elected. We deserve more from our candidates, and certainly more from the media.
We are at a turning point in history, we need all hands on deck this election is to important to be turn into a personality contest. This isn't about Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, it's not about Michelle Obama and Cindy McCain, And when you get down to it it's really not about Sarah Palin and Joe Biden.
It's about the top of the ticket; it is about judgment, temperament, experience, and honesty.
