Media Romance Can Ruin Your Love Life

Romance novels and movies are taken by women to be real life scenarios and they expect you, as the man, to act according to what they see. When you don't, then you are considered to be bad and not a "great man". For instance, in the movie "The Notebook", it begins with young love, the woman moves off and gets engaged to another man, and then decides that she needs to contact her first love again. Sparks fly, and in the end they get back together and the poor guy that was engaged to the woman is left alone. Now, in the real world, this particular woman would be cheating on her fiancé, and if the roles were reversed and the man was caught doing such a thing, then he would be a typical male pig that only deserves to be treated like a dog. In the movies, however, this is sweet, romantic, and to women, inspiring. Cheating is cheating, and today's romance novels and movies are showing the world that it is alright to be with someone else when you are in a relationship.

Another aspect of these media portrayals of "real men" is the fact that the majority of the great catches are basically wimps, feminine guys that act like they are on the earth to serve women. The fact of the matter is, though, that women do not stay with these types of men. Women want spontaneity, excitement, and a little challenge in order to stay happy. A feminine man might get the girl at first, but after the woman is on a pedestal for any length of time, they become bored and begin looking for a man that is a "bad boy". Of course, the older women today will eventually settle down with a weak-willed man that is willing to please them, that will put up with being controlled and manipulated, and that brings in a steady paycheck.

Romance novels and movies are ruining your love life in two ways. First of all, it is teaching society today that it is alright to sleep around, treat men like dirt, and still expects to get what they want when they want it. The second problem with the media hyped "perfect man" is that women eventually become bored with this type of man unless they are older and actually want to settle down. Men need to realize that women usually say that they want a certain type of man, such as the men found in chick flicks, but the truth is, all you have to do is look around yourself and you will realize that women go for the men who are considered to be "bad boys", that follow their own set of rules, and are confident in everything that they do and say. If you want to have women, and refuse to give in to the ridiculously hyped up world of the media, then become an alpha male and have any woman that you want, and most importantly, keep her around as long as you chose to have her in your life.
