Make a routine schedule for your baby right from the start when you first bring your baby home from the Hospital. So, start figuring out which one of these reasons your infant is crying. (1. Is he or she, Hungry, Sleeping, Irritable, Wet/Diaper, (2.Diaper rash, Bowel movement, needs Attention, Uncomfortable, Sick, Scared, or just need your tender loving care. Remember newborns get Hungry often, you may feed him/her at Ten O'Clock and at Twelve the baby is crying again most likely the baby is Hungry again, or needs a Diaper changed. Soon you will know when you hear a Hungry cry, because that cry is usually louder as if they think you are not going to feed them. Sometimes the baby just like to see you, have you ever notice at times when you walk away the baby start screaming crying, and than when you return where he or she can see you they get quieted and sometimes start smiling.
New Mothers especially, will have to learn what every cry means, and I think when you get to know your baby well this will be no problem at all. Also remember that babies also get thirsty so, giving water between feedings may help to reduce crying, because they drink so much milk that will make them thirsty, milk is kind of like having a shake, and as we all know when we go to McDonald's or any other place to have a shake it tends to make us a little thirsty! that's kind of what milk does to the infant, even when you drink a glass of Milk from the refrigerator, don't you get a little thirsty afterward.
Does your infant start crying when just dropping off to sleep.? If so, it is proberly because small muscles jerks and twitches that occur on the verge of sleep may be disturbing your baby. Try wrapping your baby firmly in a shawl or blanket. And lastly it's always a good idea to have your baby sleep in their own crib, because once you start putting the baby in your bed, the infant will get use to that, and it will be very hard to change back to putting the infant back into the crib later on, plus it's not to safe to have the baby sleep in your bed, because they could get crushed, they are just to small, it is safer for them to sleep in their on bed or Basket net. You should keep the Crib close by or if the infant is in another room keep the door open so you can hear the baby if crying. A baby monitor will be a good idea as well. But, as always seek Medical Advice if you can't get your infant to stop crying, after trying the above suggestions.
