Medical Marijuana causes quite a stir within society. There are many benefits to using this naturally growing herb but many people feel it should remain illegal. This article will cover some of the diseases and conditions that marijuana will help to relive the symptoms for patients. In the early 1970s, this herb was listed as a schedule 1 drug that means the government assumed it did not have any medical benefits. Since that, time scientists have discovered many health benefits of marijuana.

It's widely known that medical marijuana will relieve the symptoms of chemotherapy for cancer patients and will help to ease the symptoms of aids. In Aids patients, the inhalation of pot will increase the appetite of the patients so they do not waste away. The food gives them the energy to fight the disease more effectively. Cannabis will help to relieve discomfort and ensure that patients can live as normal a life as possible but it helps many more patients afflicted with other conditions.

Studies have shown that medical marijuana can help relieve the pain associated with irritable bowel syndrome, fibromyalgia, arthritis, hepatitis C, and Huntington's disease just to name a few. This herb will also help with the mental disorders of depression, bipolar and posttraumatic stress disorder. In some studies on Tourettes Syndrome, it has been discovered that the main chemical in pot helps to reduce the tics and that research is ongoing.

The THC in the herb also shows that it can reduce the plaque build up in the brain, which leads to Alzheimer's disease. The plaque which is basically clumps of protein in the brain which limits the cognitive functions and restrains the memories of the people with this neurological disease. Alzheimer's patients experience a reduction of thinking skills which makes those patients unable to live on their own, but in the late stages these patients are unable to do more than lie in a bed, devoid of all thinking skills.

Studies also show that smoking cannabis can relive the symptoms of COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder) as well as lung cancer. Unlike cigarettes, smoking pot does not increase the chances of a person developing any type of cancer. The marijuana is a naturally growing herb with no added chemicals; it is the chemicals in cigarettes, which make them deadly. Pot relaxes the muscles in the chest area, which make it easier to breathe.
