Medical News: Anti-Cancer Hope Found in Ancient Medicine

Anti-Cancer Hope Found at University of Oklahoma College of Medicine

Research at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine found frankincense shows anti-cancer hope. H.K. Lin is an assistant professor of urology at OU who studies frankincense. He explains lab tests found that an extract of frankincense kills off bladder cancer cells without altering normal cells. He published his studies in the BioMed Central Complementary and Alternative Medicine journal. This is indeed medical news.

Dr. Daniel Culkin is chairman of the urology department at OU College of Medicine. He said the oil seems to stimulate the immune system and he is taking this research seriously. However, tests are needed on animals before testing begins in humans.

Medical News: Aromatherapy as Ancient Medicine

As a proponent of aromatherapy since 1991, it is thrilling to see new scientific evidence for frankincense. Now we have something beyond testimonial anecdote to recommend it for various conditions. Herbs, trees and plants are distilled into essential oils. The practice of the use of essential oils is called aromatherapy.

In aromatherapy, if no other essential oil clears a condition, then frankincense is used. It is used as an anti-depressant, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumoral and as an immune stimulant. There are 52 references of frankincense in biblical scriptures and it was valued more than gold in ancient times. This new medical news is confirmation of ancient medicine.

It is known as a Holy Anointing Oil in the Middle East and has been used in religious ceremonies for thousands of years. Currently, it is often used in Yoga practice because of the positive influence it has on meditation. The wise men were indeed bearing a valuable gift to the Christ child.

Properties of Essential Oils

Essential oils oxygenate the body and cross the blood-brain barrier. Thus, the pineal and other mid-brain glands are affected. Add to this oxygenating property the characteristics of each herb and you have a product that addresses many conditions. Additionally, essential oils are concentrated. For example, three tons of plant material are required for one pound of Melissa essential oil. Another example is it takes 30 roses to make one drop of rose oil. Or it takes 60,000 roses for one ounce of rose oil.

Product Recommendation

It is not fair to inform you of the values of frankincense without mentioning the product we use. Since 1991, Young Living is the only brand we use and the company is based in Utah. Young Living grows, harvests and distills its own plants so they have complete quality control. They do not grow crops on land where any chemicals have ever been used. This results in essential oils that are considered food quality. Many of them are pure enough for ingestion. Young Living frankincense oil has been in our First Aid kit since 1991.

New medical news for frankincense as an anti-cancer medicine is exciting. The only other medical tests we know of are from 1991. In those tests, frankincense was screened for anti-tumor agents. Over the years, we have heard from people who use frankincense for cancer treatment. Now we have more scientific tests to confirm its value as medicine. We are thrilled because this may open the door for others to use it in the future. We look forward to hearing more medical news about it as further tests continue.
