Sarah Beth Hill a medical student at University of South Alabama won a 123,000 dollar scholarship. Hill won a contest sponsored by Dr Pepper during SEC Championship game. Hill, who had little experience throwing a football coming into the contest, learned how to throw a football with the help of her University of South Alabama football coach.

According to website Al.com,

"Once Hill learned she was going to be in the contest she called coach Brent Bedsole. Bedsole coached football for undefeated University of South Alabama. He began working with her the next day. Because she didn't even know how to hold the ball, Hill said Bedsole spent time teaching her how to hold the football and line up her fingers on the laces." To read the full story click here.

The contest, sponsored by Dr Pepper consisted of the contestants throwing footballs through a hole in a ten foot tall Dr Pepper can. The contest was titled "Throw for Scholarship Gold" and the winner's share was 123,000 dollars. Loser's share was 23,000 dollars.

At halftime of the SEC Championship game between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Florida Gators Dr Pepper set up the contest and sent Sarah Beth Hill. The contest rules were as follows: Each contestant will stand at the 5-yard line and have 45 seconds to get the most footballs, out of 10, through a 2-foot wide hole in an over sized Dr Pepper can.

Hill took her time and amazingly only missed one. She had scored an incredible 9 out of 10 and still had eight seconds to spare. The saying that slow and steady wins the race applied here. Congratulations to soon to be doctor Sarah Beth Hill and to Dr Pepper for a great contest with a great result.

Sarah also a Alabama Crimson Tide fan received the pleasure of watching her team as they were dominating the Florida Gators.
