When you are sick but have to continue with your personal and professional responsibilities it can leave little time to set aside for the doctor. This fact, in addition to the reduction in hours and physicians becoming general practitioners can become a real obstacle. In particular, this is an issue when you need urgent medical help like an asthmatic or a diabetic. A trip to the ER can lead to hours sitting in a waiting room. This is why the creation of walk-in medical centers have been a savior to many people. As an asthmatic child I spent countless hours in the waiting room after unable to secure an appointment with my family doctor. Recently I was looking for a doctor to see without the need to wait two weeks to obtain an appointment and found the information was not readily available in the yellow pages or online.
