The Medieval Times Castle came to the State of Georgia less than 5 years ago and it has been a buzz every since. I recall when I saw this castle being constructed, I thought to myself, "What on earth are they building and who are they building it for, and right inside the neighborhood mall"? I soon came to find out that they were building one of the nine Medieval Times Castle's. The other Medieval Times Castle's are located in California, Canada, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, South Carolina and Texas, so you're sure to find one closest to your home.
I recently had the luxury of visiting the Georgia Castle and realized that the Medieval Times organization takes the 11th Century pretty serious as even their customer service representatives dress in 11th Century garb. Once you enter the castle it's a feast for the eyes, so much so that you don't know what to look at first. There are so many colorful gifts and trinkets that you see children kind of gazing with wonder and at some times absolutely speechless.
Once you enter the rather large doors of the Dinner & Tournament area you know that you are in for a treat. The castle is divided into sections that represent a certain Knight. There are six Knights: The Black and White knight, The Blue knight, The Red/Yellow knight, The Yellow knight, The Red knight and the Green knight. So the sections have several very long banquet styled tables with chairs and is very reminiscent of how people dined in the 11th Century.
King Philippe and his daughter in-law Princess Leonore preside over a four-course feast as you enjoy the show. There are both meat feast and vegetarian feast, so there's something for everyone. The meat feast includes a very large bird, ribs, potatoes, soup and bread. The veggie meal consisted of humus and some mixture of rice and veggies. The meal ends with a very lovely and flaky apple puff pastry. Although you have your choice of beverages such as Pepsi or Sprit, unfortunately you'll have to dine without forks, spoons or knives, after all, it is the 11th Century!
The tournament portion of the show is very entertaining as you see the knights accomplishing various tasks with their horses and weapons. The show keeps you engaged and wondering what's going to happen next. You also get the added fun of supporting your favorite knight with lots of cheers and applause!
Medieval Times has not forgotten about the price conscience as they have great promotions that include 2 for one, children and teens free, student and teacher discounts as well as exclusive on line discounts. Visit Medieval Times on line today at www.medievaltimes.com and discover the latest offers.
The bottom line: Entertaining show, good eats and lots of discounts. Medieval Times also offers Free Royal upgrades as well as Birthday parties. Medieval Times is fun for the entire family!
