But certain precautions are necessary for attaining success. We should abjure over eating. Gluttony is totally banned for such a person. A healthy body is essential for happiness. Extremes are bad. Food, exercise and recreation in moderate doses are good. There should be minimum spending of energy. Such a person is able to remove all sorrows. He enjoys complete tranquility of mind. He remains like a naked flame of a candle, well protected in a place where air cannot disturb, and where it doesn't flutter. His mind is full of optimism and anxiety to search for temporary pleasures does not arise. He is not disturbed by the greatest tragedy. Whenever the mind runs away he brings it back for contemplation at the higher goal. Consistency of purpose is his secret of achievement. With faith in God obstacles vanish. Actions become more efficient. Grace is earned. With consistent thinking, disciplined effort and faith in the goal the direction is set. It works like a bullet. You cannot call it back.
Power of thoughts form the greatest inner wealth. He develops moral and ethical values all positive values. non-hatred sympathy. and friendship. He is totally unselfish and has no ego. He never complains. He does not distribute sorrow but sows happiness. He is cheerful under all conditions and firm in his convictions with mind and intellect in total surrender to Him. Preserving intellectual and mental vitality is the secret of achievement of such men. The world doesn't fear them.
The qualities of joy, envy, sorrow are born out of body consciousness. Having gone beyond these qualities properties of the body no longer affects him. Death, old age and sorrow do not affect him He enjoys luminosity and engages in endless series of activity. There are no selfish desires since all activities are for benefit of mankind. He is firmly set like a lighthouse on a rock. He is equal to praise or blame. love and hatred, jeers and cheers, joy and sorrow, and friend and foe. This is the greatest secret of sciences. Wisdom demands assimilation and absorption so that every thought will have a golden view. We can enrich our life by giving up the anxieties to enjoy the fruits of action.
When you sit up for meditation several obstacles will arise. Mind will wander. Unpleasant thoughts will interfere with meditation. You know the mind is a monkey. It is very difficult to tame it. But this does not mean that you should not try. Every attempt to bringing back the mind to the object of meditation is a step forward. Think of the vast universe, the ocean, and the mountain and visualize them while meditating. Even if you slip you will reach one stretch of sea from another. You will reach one star from another. So the course will not be deflected though the point of concentration will shift for a while. There are situations when one is gripped by depression and despondency. Take for example the plight of a monkey, which by itself is restless, gets dead drunk, is bitten by a scorpion and is possessed of a ghost. We should not succumb to such a situation.(Concluded)
