Meditation Tips for a Healthy Life

Living a happy and healthy life is probably one of the biggest goals in life. Many people have turned to pills or quick fixes to become healthier, however, what I have found to be the best preventative medicine is meditation, or deep breathing.

You may think that meditation is something that only "enlightened" people do to relax, however, meditating is also a way of fighting off negative energy that causes toxic diseases inside the body. This is coming from a person who hasn't had a cold in three years! As a matter of fact, I haven't even been to the doctor in I don't know how long!

People say that you should go to the doctor for yearly checkups just to make sure you don't "have something", but I trust that the meditation that I do is good enough to fight any of that negative energy that may have crept into my body. Besides, I feel that sometimes it's just better that you don't know you have a disease. Most of time it's in knowing that causes more worry - which isn't good for the disease. If I think I'm healthy at all times, then it will be so...As they say, "Ignorance is Bliss!" It's so much easier to heal when you are happy than when you are down and out or severely depressed about your declining health.

The air we breathe contains the life force that provides us with the "medicine" and energy to survive. When we cut ourselves on the finger or get a scrape on the skin, eventually that wound heals, right? It's that same energy that can heal the inside of your body as well.

Here's a simple meditation tip for deep breathing...

1. Picture yourself as a balloon, inhale, and feel yourself expand
2. Hold it for about 3 seconds
3. Breathe out slowly, feel yourself deflate and relax like a balloon

When you do meditate, find a nice quiet place where you know you won't be interrupted. Turn off the cell phones, unplug the landline, just sit for 10-20 minutes, and allow your concerns and grievances to drift away. Just focus on your breathing and think positive thoughts regarding your health. Feel the air entering your body and reaching all those areas that need healing. Picture your body glowing in a white light and know that all the cells in your body are receiving the nourishment and elements required to live a healthy life. Do this everyday when you wake up in the morning and at night before you go to bed.
