Meditation:Relaxing the Creative Mind

Ms. Unique
When I woke up this morning, I wanted to go back to bed. I haven't felt this way in 3 days. For the past three days I slept like a baby and only for a few hours at a time. Why did I sleep like a baby? Meditation. Getting my head right. I have been searching for more fulfilling ways to meditate to start my days, weeks, months, year off on the right foot. Meditation is great for clearing the mind and letting your spirit speak to you.

It is said that some of the greatest people: Inventors, intellectuals, creative people, spiritual leaders; meditate. Anybody can do it and it can be done almost anywhere. To meditate, to most, means to be quiet, still, to pray, to ask, talk to God, yoga, quiet music listening. There's so many ways to meditate, and neither is wrong or right. It's whatever you FEEL.

Now, can mediation really get you on track with your life? I tend to meditate while laying down, being quiet with my eyes closed. I think about the situation or the day and say and/or visualize my intended action and outcome. This helps me to attract anything that flows down the path I need to take get through my day or situation.

While I have been using that method, I also look to other ways that people actually teach. I actually felt like I was eight years old again, learning how to pray in Sunday school or at home. "You put your hands together, close your eyes and ask God what you want and say thank you for all the blessings he's given to you." And, actually, as a child, my aunt gave me fun visualization tapes to listen to at night so I can sleep well. Here I am going back to my roots!

On my journey to learning how to meditate in a more fulfilling way, all kinds of things have come my way. Coincidences, articles, people, blogs, that share the same message yet given in a different package. In an article I received from the Joe SilvaUltra Method of meditation, there were references to Thomas Edison and how he would take several naps a day and wake up from those naps with new bright, intuitive ideas. He just happens to be one of the most influential inventors in American history. The basis of this method is, you can find answers to your questions, and connect with your creativity through mediation.

After reading the article I went to YouTube and found a video about hypnosis. I observed how a hypnotist can get you to relax at the speed of light and make you do ANYTHING. Just imagine if we can use the hypnotists approach to help ourselves. He would repeat the word, relax multiple times and each participant would drop to sleep and do what he told them to. The focus is always and only on the action. No "other" outside thought is present, and it's almost like the other parts of the brain are turned off. The "other" parts being: negative thought, extra information, pros or cons, work. After the command, in an instant that person gets up and performs the action. ACTION.

Next, I perused a daily lifestyle design blog I read everyday. The Four Hour Work Week blog, by Tim Ferriss. Today's blog is about what else? Mediation! "Relaxing like a pro" was right on time for me. It was about sleep deprivation and patterns. In the middle of the blog the author states that Thomas Edison used to sleep only four hours at night and would take three hour naps about two times a day. Seems to me like his mind was able to relax so that he can create more easily! Now, I am not able to nap several times a day because I have a 9 to 5, but napping (meditating) when I wake up and before I go to sleep can be effective too.

What I'm saying is, we have the ability to jump inside our minds and reconfigure how we think and act. Helping ourselves while the spirit guides us. Meditation seems so simple, yet most of us don't do it? Why? Are we really that scared of being successful?

Just imagine the kinds of positive results we can attract by allowing ourselves to connect with our minds. We can dictate our own lives and start to co-create. What a loop hole!

Happy meditating,

Unique
