Mediterranean Cafe at Flatiron Crossing Mall

Decent Mediterranean Food in a Suburban Denver Mall

Denver Dude
Last weekend, I visited Flatiron Crossing Mall in Broomfield, Colorado with my lady and a couple friends. For lunch we ate at the Mediterranean Cafe in the Food Court. Mediterranean Cafe has the standard gyros, falafels, hummus, and baba ghanoush, but also a nice mixed salad bar. We tried the hummus pita, fries, a gyro, and falafel balls. Most items were tasty (if a little expensive for the food court) but the fries were a disappointment.

The hummus at Mediterranean Cafe is creamy goodness. The falafel is great--it comes crispy and with tzatziki and hot sauce. We ordered the curly fries, but they ended up being regular, lightly seasoned potatoes that were barely cooked and soggy from the fryer. Though the other parts of the meal were pretty decent, poorly done fries are a total bummer. At least the Cafe has Diet Dr. Pepper in the soda fountain.

For a meal that cost $18 for two sandwiches, two fries, and two sodas, I feel the sandwiches could have been bigger and the quality control could have been better. I guess that's what we get for eating at the food court on a Saturday afternoon. The company's website claims the high cost is due to using quality ingredients. Maybe so--it certainly isn't going to the local high school kids behind the counter.

I would return to Mediterranean Cafe for the falafel and to try items on the salad bar. My ideal Colorado food court Greek meal would be their falafel with hummus and fries from Renzio's.
