Meet AC Contributor Lisa Kay

Lyn Lomasi
I recently was able to interview AC Contributor Lisa Kay. She's been with AC since February of 2009 and writes informative articles on parenting, health, gardening, pets, homeschooling, and more. My favorite article by Lisa Kay is The Blue Zones: Where People Live to Be 100. I found this to be particularly interesting, informative, and thought-provoking. Read on to find out more about Lisa Kay and don't forget to go read some of her articles afterward.

How Did You First Find Out About Associated Content?
Earlier this year, I read a health related article that happened to be on Helium. When I took a closer look at Helium, I discovered a whole new world. I was fascinated with the idea that I could seriously and immediately pursue a life long interest in writing, while at the same time generating a little extra income. While I was learning about Helium and how to write articles, I stumbled across Associated Content. I've never looked back.

Do You Freelance For a Living or Do Something Else As Well?
My goal is to freelance for a living while enjoying the privilege of homeschooling my five year old daughter. I have much more to read and learn before I reach that goal but I know I'll get there.

Tell Us a Little More About Yourself
I've lived in the piney woods of Louisiana all my life. I'm 45 and I've been married for 23 years. We were married seventeen years before our daughter was born. She is a truly a gift from God. I waited, not patiently, so long to be a mother, I don't want to miss anything.

Do You Think Your Writing Career Helps With Parenting and Vice Versa?
Writing helps me with parenting by giving me an outlet. I always feel more relaxed and focused after a brainstorming/writing session. Writing supports my self confidence in every area of my life, even in public situations. Parenting helps me with writing by giving me a wider range of experiences. There are many things I wouldn't know about if I didn't have a child.

How Do You Plan to Accomplish Your Goals at Associated Content?
Firstly, I need to learn more about SEO, LSI and writing articles that people want to read. Secondly, I need to practice what I learn until it becomes second nature. Thirdly, I need to make a daily life schedule, so that my family gets all the love they need and my house stays organized. A schedule that works is a beautiful thing and it will allow me time to write, consistently and in a stress free environment.

What Message Do You Wish to Teach Your Audience in Your Articles?
Should I be fortunate enough to have an audience, I want them to learn from my mistakes so they won't make them.

Life is good and it is short. Even when things are going bad there are still things we can be grateful for.

I am passionate about most of my topics. I have been in tears during several articles and I've only just begun.

Which Piece of Your AC Content Means the Most to You and Why?

A Healthy Bladder: How to Keep it that Way

This article means the most to me because my Mother has been dealing with bladder cancer for about three years.

List Three Other Favorites That You've Written for AC

Growing Wisteria: Tree, Vine and Bonsai
I love wisteria. I grew up with a beautiful wisteria vine but years later it turned into a monster.

The AC Twitter Challenge: How I Use Hootsuite with Associated Content's RSS
I enjoyed writing this article the most.

Insulin Resistance and PCOS in Teen Girls
The subject of this article hits home with me.

Do You Have any Advice For Those Who Wish to Pursue Freelance Writing?
Read everything you can on SEO, LSI and constructing online articles.

Freelance writing is not easy but the process of writing an article does get easier with practice.
Be persistent, if you want it, don't give up.

Is There Anything Else You'd Like to Add?
I want to thank you, Lyn, for this opportunity. I have enjoyed the short time I have been here. I look forward to reading, writing and learning more at Associated Content.
