Meet AC Contributor Stacy Hensley

Y! Lyn
Recently, I was able to interview AC Contributor Stacy Hensley. She joined AC in April 2009 and has already added a variety of topics to her AC library. She writes about holidays, health, sports, parenting, and more. My favorite piece of content written by Stacy is How to Help Your Tween or Teen Deal with the Daily Stress of Life . I chose this piece because today's teens and tweens are under more pressure than ever and Stacy gives stellar advice. I hope many who need the information get a chance to read it. Below are the questions I asked Stacy along with her responses. Don't forget to check out her AC page after reading the interview.

How Did You First Find Out About Associated Content?
I did a google search for something (can't remember what) and an Associated Content article came up. After I read the article, I spent some time on the site and decided to sign up.

Do You Freelance For a Living or Do Something Else As Well?
I am a full-time freelancer. Since I started in May, my income has consistently gone up each month. My goal is to be making $1,000 dollars a month by December.

Tell Us a Little More About Yourself
I have 3 wonderful kids, a great boyfriend, and a crazy cat. I enjoy creating graphics and designing websites. And yes, I admit I'm addicted to reality TV!

Why Did You Choose Freelance Writing as a Career?
I have anxiety problems. The process of going and interviewing for a job will make me physically sick for days. Freelance writing eliminates this problem. I work from home, so that I don't have to worry as much about the anxiety.

How do You Plan On Achieving Your Associated Content Goals?
Learning, learning, and then learning some more. I read at least 1 tutorial on AC each day. There are many great AC contributors who have taken the time to share how they became so successful by writing tutorials that can help new contributors. I use this information to help me become a better writer.

Have You Always Wanted to Be a Writer?
I have written poetry since I was a teenager. But I actually wanted to be a psychologist. I'm the person that my friends always turn to for advice when they have a problem. And when I grow up, I plan to learn to take some of my own advice. :-)

Which Piece of Your AC Content Means the Most to You and Why?

The 5 Most Common Myths About Autism

My nephew and my best friend's daughter have autism. So this is a subject that is very dear to me. I believe that helping to educate others is one way that I can help people have a better understanding of this disorder.

List Three Other Favorites That You've Written for AC

I chose these 3 article because they are important issues for me and other people.

Do You Have any Advice For Those Who Wish to Pursue Freelance Writing?
Freelance writing can be overwhelming at first. Take the time to work out a schedule that will help give you some structure. Being organized makes writing a lot easier, and I say this as someone who was never organized until I started writing.

Is There Anything Else You'd Like to Add?
Write about things that you like, and that are important to you. This helps make the writing fulfilling, and keeps it from feeling so much like a job that you hate to do each day. Keep it fun!
