Beer fans have been hoping, wishing, and praying for a beer robot probably for as long as there have been robots. Beer plus robot seems like the perfect combination of tasty goodness plus technology.
For the true Couch Potato, the very thought of a robot that can pour you a beer sounds like an invention as great as the remote control: it automates a simple task but keeps you from having to actually get up out of your comfortable chair or sofa. Really, why didn't someone invent a Beer Pouring Robot sooner?
The Beer Robot by Asahi Beer keeps beer cold in its beer refrigerator robot stomach. Then it moves the beer into place to open the beer. It moves the cold frosted mug into place and tilts it for proper beer pouring. Then it tilts the beer at just the right angle to pour the beer into the icy cold mug. The smart little beer robot pauses midway and waits for the beer foam to subside, and then resumes pouring the rest of the beer. The beer bottle is returned to the original position, and the beer mug is turned upright and is moved into a position that is ready to drink. The process is fun to watch, but it is much slower than pouring a beer for yourself.
But the true couch potato intent on using the Beer Robot to supersize their lazy lifestyle and plans to never get up off the couch again whenever they feel like drinking a nice cold one, the Beer Robot isn't quite what is needed for the couch potato's plan on world domination and a beer all from the comfort of a seated position of their choice.
The Beer Robot is not a Robot Butler that will serve the beer, it will only pour the beer, not serve the beer. The beer robot requires the user to remove the beer from the robot "stomach" refrigerator, and then place the beer and a beer mug into the correct position. After the robot pours the beer, the user has to take the beer from the robot. So the Beer Robot from Asahi is really more of a party trick or conservation piece than a true beer robot because it does indeed open and pour the beer, but it does not get the beer. But at least it is a good start on a robot that will open and pour you a beer, right?
