Meet the Chicago Beer Vendors

Lee Andrew Henderson
Chicago sure is a lovely town isn't it? Great windy weather, I hear it's pretty nice place to live. They love their sports teams and they love their beer.

In fact they love their beer so much that the beer vendors in Chicago are just as beloved as the players on the field. There is even a website devoted to these wonderful men, the beer vendors of Chicago.

The website dedicated to the Chicago beer vendors is located at www.beervendors.com. The website cleverly has a logo similar to the Major League Baseball logo. The Major League Baseball logo of course is a rectangular shape, half red and half blue, with a white silhouette of a Major League Baseball Player batting. The Chicago beer vendor logo is the same rectangular shape with the same colors except that the white silhouette is of a beer vendor pouring a can of beer into a cup.

When you enter the Chicago Beer Vendor website you will find pictures of all the various beer vendors. When you click on a particular beer vendor you will find their baseball card! Each beer vendor has a baseball card made of them. Just like on real baseball cards the front features a picture of the beer vendor along with their name displayed at the bottom. The back side of the baseball card holds all kind of vital information like how many years they have been a beer vendor, their nickname and the location on the field where they sell beers. There is also a short bio dedicated to each beer vendor.

There are all kinds of interesting facts about these vendors. Like Mike Gold, his beer selling skills in 2004 were good enough for him to be the Chicago representative at the All Star game in Houston. William Dennis has a degree in biology and psychology and is thinking of taking on chemistry next. At least one person will know the effects of mixing beer with those hot dogs. Let's not forget Jordan Hobfoll who worked at the Howard Dean Campaign, the Democratic National Convention and "America Coming Together."

Unfortunately these cards can only be seen on the website and can not be purchased. Think about how much these could sell for on the Home Shopping Network or Ebay. Who wouldn't want a baseball card of the famous Robovendor or the legendary Horsewhipper?

If you're ever planning on going to Chicago you should brush up on your facts about these guys. You don't want to look stupid in front of the Chicago faithful when you ask "Who is Don Gerstein?"
