Oprah Winfrey has a half-sister and did not know it until a few months ago, while Roger Ebert has a new prosthesis to don after suffering a grueling battle with jaw cancer. Now the two celebrities are sharing the life-changing events with the world whose curiosity is sometimes insatiable.

First there is Oprah Winfrey who is used to surprising millions with her blunt interviews and uncovering the truth behind the strongest facades. Oprah found herself on the receiving end of a big surprise when in October, 2010 she found out she has a half-sister.

Patricia was born in 1963 to Oprah's mother, Vernita Lee, and was given up for adoption. Oprah's half-sister endured a tough life having lived in several foster homes until she was 7, but even after adoption, the single mother of Milwaukee said her childhood was "difficult."

In another heartwarming story, Roger Ebert who is best known for his film review column (which appears in the Chicago Sun-Times) and his programs 'At The Movies with Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert', and 'Siskel and Ebert and the Movies', has a new silicone prosthesis.

Roger's illnesses and battle with cancer which began at age 64 has been well documented and it was devastating for millions to watch the movie critic suffer the loss of the lower half of his face.

However, in the past two years during a long and arduous process, Ebert has a new device and will be wearing it on his new show.

Ebert spoke with People stating, "I will wear the prosthesis on the new television show - that's not to fool anyone, because my appearance is widely known. It will be a pleasant reminder of the person I was for 64 years."

Additionally, Ebert said, "Symbolically, it's as if my illness never happened and, hey, here I still am, on the show with these new kids."
