Meet the Robinsons: Disney Tries Again Without Pixaxr and Creates a Hit

Imagine if you were an orphan, alone and unwanted. You were a boy genius, but everything you ever tried to invent would explode. This is the basis of the main character Lewis. Disney's Meet the Robinsons is about a boy genius who is about to have his world turned upside down. The basic story without giving away any MAJOR spoilers is that Lewis is a genius. But no matter what he tries to do his inventions fail, and couples don't want anything to do with him. He lives in an orphanage with Goob, his baseball loving roommate.

His heart is broken until lewis figures that his mother loved him so much she left him at the orphanage so he would be taken care of. He wants to know what his mother looks like, but he only saw her once when he was a baby. But that does not stop him from moving forward. He uses his genius to work and design a mind reader that will read his memory and display what he chooses on a monitor. This one invention is the cause of everything that will take place in this movie.

The movie is well written, animated and executed. The animation is better than Chicken Little, but not as strong as a Pixar movie. The worlds are very colorful and vivid with many bright colors and smooth shapes. The Characters are somewhat developed. Obviously Lewis and the co star Wilbur are the main focus in the movie. Their characters are very easy to understand and comprehend. The other sub characters also get enough screen time that you can understand how they think and feel. This is quite amazing since the Robinson family has well over eight characters.

The movie writing is something that I have not seen in many if any animated Disney movies. There are places where you can figure out what happens based on previews or dialog. However, there are a few good twists and turns late in the movie. All I want to say without ruining the movie is that everything fits in place. And I mean everything, keep and eye and ear open to see what I mean.

I would highly recommend this movie for all ages. I am definitely over the normal age people consider should be watching animated movies. But this movie is most definitely worth watching. It is funny, smart, and overall well done. The jokes in the movie range from kids comedy t classic gangster jokes. There is really something for everyone in this movie. Although the animation isn't the best possible and the characters are wacky, those shortfalls hardly take away from the film.
For A letter grade I give this movie an A for family friendliness, good comedy and an excellent ending. With a happy ending of course.

On a side note this movie contained a full Ratatoullie trailer along with a Shrek the Third trailer for those interested. And before the feature film a Mickey Mouse short cartoon was played. I personally was impressed Disney was going back to its roots. And the cartoon was a classic one, not any remake of any type.
