First, let's talk about the story. Mega Man X takes place where a evil fighting robot named "X", who has to fight other robots who turned evil. The storyline was OK, but it's kind of hard to follow at first. X has to go on 8 different missions and beat the boss (the robot that turned evil) at the end of the stage. All stages are different and some are harder then others. Each boss that you beat give you a extra weapon, which was the bosses main weapon, that you can use in the game on other levels. All bosses have a weakness that you find using one of your weapons. Are bosses are interesting and different and are fun to kill.
Next we have the game play. The game play in this game is really fun. You jump and battle across each stage to fight the boss at the end of it. If you're health reaches 0, you lose a life. If you lose all your lives, the game is over. There are secret extra lives hidden in some levels. Sometimes there really hard to find. Speaking of secrets, there are upgrades for X that are hidden in some levels. There is a head upgrade, which allows you to break rocks with your head, an arm upgrade, which allows you to charge your buster even more dealing extra damage, an leg part, which allows you to dash and a body part which makes you take less damage.
Now we have graphics. It has upgraded graphics and look like a PS1 or a PS2 game. It's 2d, which is a good thing, and has lots of nice colors. There not eye popping, but it's nice to look at. Needless to say, the graphics are better then the SNES game.
Controls are pretty good. All you need is to switch weapons, jump, shoot and move. These are done with L and R (switch weapon), X (jumps), Square (shoots), and the d-pad (moves). It's not confusing and you will understand the controls right away.
This game is found for 9.99 at most stores, so it's really a steal. It's a very fun game for the PSP.
