Are you the type to play lotto when it gets real high? Do you play everyday? Let the computer pick your numbers, or play special numbers everytime? The type that anxiously awaits the numbers to be announced on TV? Or do you play regularly and check them in the morning? No matter how you play, jackpots have been rolling over on many games, people awaiting anxiously to become instant millionaires.

Lottery in General, a Personal Experience

I never played the lottery until one day, while working the lotto machine, I made a mistake. I bought that mistake ticket, a four digit ticket, and checked the next day and lo and behold I was a winner! That was the beginning of the end so to speak. I will say, when it comes to three digit numbers, I have been lucky over the years. I definitely believe while still somewhat random, there is a bit of a pattern there as well. Of course the three digit, out of all the games, is the easiest to win, as it has the least amount of combos. This is the game I typically play. When it comes to the large jackpot games, never really have I been a big player, just too many possible combos.

Mega Millions, a Little Information and History

"Mega Millions It's always a big Jackpot." Is the catch phrase for this game. This game came to us here in Pa fairly recently, just over a year ago on February 2, 2010 as the first Pa drawing. The largest jackpot won for Mega Millions was worth $390 million. The winning numbers for this jackpot was drawn on March 6, 2007. The winning tickets belonged to two different ticket holders, one in Georgia, and one in New Jersey. This game is a multiple-state game. The jackpot starts at $12 million and every drawing that passes without a jackpot winner, it rolls over until someone hits the big one. So how do you play this one? Its a lot like the power ball, including a multiplier. You choose five numbers from 1-56, then choose a mega ball number between 1-46, then decide if you want to add the bonus multiplier option for $1.00 more. With this option, a number from 1-5 is randomly picked and whatever you won is multiplied by that number. For example, if you would have won $2.00, but elected the multiplier option, and at the drawing the megaplier was 5, you would get $10.00 instead of $2.00.

Don't Throw Away Those Tickets!

Although no one won the big jackpot last night, there are other ways to win, so while no one has the jackpot ticket, you may have still won a prize so check your numbers! This can be done at the appropriate state lotto page, ours for Pa is located here . So, how to win besides having all the numbers and receiving that giant jackpot? Pretty easy to at least recover the cost of your ticket. You can have just the mega ball number, which will give you $2.00. You can have one number and the mega-ball which would give you $3.00. The list goes on and can be seen here. So when you see the morning news or read the paper that no one hit the jackpot, check those numbers carefully, you can win up to $250,000! I checked and 1 player from PA matched all 5 numbers, but not the mega-ball, meaning they won $250,000.00! Another PA player matched 4 of 5 and the Mega Ball, winning $10,000.00.

And the Winning Numbers For the Drawing on March 15, 2011 are.....

10 11 12 28 43 MB 45 MP 04

I usually don't play this one but did buy one ticket yesterday. I just couldn't resist. I was purchasing food and there was an unusual amount of people in line for lotto. Of course I had to ask, "What's going on? Why so busy?" When I was told it was a high MM jackpot I figure, eh, one ticket won't hurt. Only one number will win, so no need to buy tons of tickets, and being only a dollar, what the heck. My outcome? I had one number within the first five, so no winner here, maybe next time. The next drawing is on the 18Th and the jackpot has now reached $201,000,000. What would you do with the money?

I am a faithful player - as they say you have to be in it to win it!

It seems to me that the lottery is nothing more than a voluntary tax contribution. Enjoyable article, though!

We only play once in awhile when the jackpot is big. We have a poor family.

I could do a lot with 200 million! We don't have a lottery in NV. The father of a friend of mine won the lottery twice... for millions both times....talk about lightening striking.
