Megan Joy's 'Turn Your Lights Down Low' a Weak Performance on March 31 Show

Megan Joy Needs to Bring Her Suitcase to Wednesday Night's American Idol Elimination Show

Megan Joy has not been one of the stronger competitors on American Idol this season and she again showed that it is probably time for her to go. She is going to have to rely heavily on fan support, but she may be beyond help after her rendition of "Turn Your Lights Down Low."

The singers had an opportunity to pick any song then wanted this week and you would have to question this choice for her. Megan has a Janice Joplin bluesy kind of a voice and this was about as far away as you can get from that. The song was made famous by Bob Marley and she should have left it that way.

Her voice is very clumsy and undefined. It is as though she has no idea where she is really going with the song when she opens her mouth to sing. Another thing that hurts her is that annoying nasal twang that she throws in there when she sings out of the side of her mouth.

There was one minor bright spot during the entire performance as she did have a nice riff, but it was far too little, too late. The rest of the performance was just awful. She also continues to hurt herself with her clumsy stage presence. A singer has to have some type of rhythm to be able to move on stage attractively and everything she does has you wanting to see the cane come from behind the curtain and yank her off of the stage.

Megan Joy's performance on American Idol Tuesday night was easily one of the worst of the evening and she should definitely be concerned. It would be hard to figure out how she can get this turned around and she is constantly one of the bottom performers each and every week of the show. Quite frankly, she is running out of people to share the elimination with. It looks like it may be time to say goodbye to Megan Joy.
