Meghan McCain Can't Stand Barack Obama

Valerie Ferrari
Joy Behar interviewed Meghan McCain, the 25 year old daughter of Senator John McCain, about Snooki, Sarah Palin, Obama and Meghan's new book, "Dirty Sexy Politics" on her HLN talk show on Thursday, September 9th.

One thing Joy Behar always likes to do, in case you don't watch her show, is try her best to get her guests to take a side, preferably her own, on any given topic. Joy herself has no problem taking a side and if someone doesn't like her opinion, she'll say something like "too bad" (which is why I like to watch Joy).

Joy wanted to know what Meghan McCain thought about Snooki. Meghan said she had interviewed the Jersey Shore reality star for the "Daily Beast."

"Did you really?," Joy marveled, "Did you find her as incredibly intelligent as we all do here?"

Meghan McCain said that Snooki's "not a great intellect, but she was very nice to my family ... And she`s like 'Go, McCain' and I was like anybody on my team, I`m on your team so ..."

Joy Behar thought that meant that Snooki was a Republican, but Meghan McCain said: "She just doesn't like Obama because he taxed tanning ... even though Snooki isn't an intellectual heavyweight."

The new book "Dirty Sexy Politics" came up next: "... I read some of this book," Joy said, "And I don`t see any sexy in here. Just dirty." Meghan McCain said the sexy part is in the beginning: "I just talk about like campaign sex and campaign goggles which I wasn't having but a lot of the staff and the journalists were."

Sarah Palin and her baby Trig were mentioned ("they passed that baby around more than a joint at a Grateful Dead concert," Joy said). Premarital sex, abstinence, abortions were all discussed with Meghan McCain doing her best not to offend anyone, but when it came to being a staunch Republican, she was very firm -- she can't see herself ever voting as a Democrat.

Meghan McCain said she believes "a bad Republican is better than a good Democrat." Joy Behar said that was "brainwashing, pure and simple," but Meghan said it was not, and she was also steadfast in maintaining that she has no rapport with President Barack Obama. She flat out does not like him.

"Do you like Obama?," Joy Behar asked.

"I don't -- at all," Meghan McCain replied.

"As a person, or as a politician or what?" Joy probed.

Meghan responded: "His political beliefs obviously I completely disagree with on every level, I mean, I just worry about the kind of debt he's leaving my generation, and on a personal level, I just have never connected with him."

She said she understands the frustrations of a lot of people because Obama seems to have this "incapacity to connect" with a lot of America.

Joy then asked Meghan McCain if she felt that the Republican party was rough on Obama. Miss McCain said "No, are you kidding?" rather vehemently. Joy said Obama recently stated that the GOPs were treating him "like a dog."

"You`re President. Deal with it," Meghan McCain said, expounding further: "Compared to what they (presumably the Democrats) have put Sarah and my father and President Bush through, no, you`re the President. Sorry. Good lord."

Joy Behar conceded that she was rough on George Bush but noted "he deserved it."

She admittedly voted for John Kerry in the 2004 election. So she already has voted as a democrat.

You just made me a bit more forgiving of Meghan McCain ;-) "a bad Republican is better than a good Democrat." Love it ;-)

How refreshing, good read. REally nice to read about an interview that discusses facts based on actual facts and not interested on impressing us with political correctness.

(Yes, I was too lazy to log-in). Another great article, Val. I actually like Meghan McCain because she tends to side Republican based on facts and personal philosophy, instead of fear and misinformation like so many extreme right wingers - and left, too, for that matter - tend to do.

I can't see Barack Obama losing any sleep over whether McCain's kid likes him or not, but I bet he's jealous that McCain and Cory Booker tweet with Snooki

    Joy who?
