Meghan McCain Posts Racy Photo on Twitter, Denies Any Wrongdoing

Maybe it was the low-cut tank top. Perhaps it was the saucy expression. Or maybe it was the fact that Meghan McCain just seemed to be begging for attention. Whatever the case, Meghan McCain landed herself on the top of Google's most searched-for Twitterers today when she posted a TwitPic of herself with her scantily-clad chest thrust towards the camera, Andy Warhol biography in hand, on her Twitter account for the world to gaze upon.

Ordinarily, this sort of picture is normal fare for young teen girls and Twitter spam skanks. And while Meghan didn't necessarily do anything wrong by posting it, it would certainly seem she could have exercised better judgment. But then, what should we expect from a Senator's daughter?

After the photograph drew fire from her conservative followers and McCain haters alike, Meghan went on an emotional rampage, reacting first with the typical, "just-because-I'm-not-wearing-a-pants-suit-makes-me-a-slut" speech, to Twitter abandon threats (what a loss that would be!) to a simple apology.

But was any of this really necessary? I see worse pictures come across the radar from pop tart stars nearly every day. No doubt, the photo was sleazy, unnecessary, and from the look of it, totally on purpose. The real reason lies in the feigned innocence she portrayed in reacting to the sleaze allegations.

Meghan McCain's excuses were even worse. She was quoted as saying, "[When] I am alone in my apartment, I wear tank tops and sweatpants, I had no idea this makes me a 'slut', I can't even tell you how hurt I am." This is all well and true; however, when I'm alone in my house wearing my pajamas, I make sure I'm as far away from a camera as possible, no matter what they look like.

What Meghan McCain wears to bed is far from my list of worries, much less my care list, but when it's used as an excuse to take what some have called an NSFW picture in "pajamas," post it on Twitter, and then deny knowing any better, makes me not feel sorry for her one bit. I'm not condemning her for what she does, as that's her business, but she should just move on and not make such a big deal of "not knowing better."

So, what do you think? Is Meghan McCain a floozy with a penchant for attention? Or is she daft? Either way, let's hope she doesn't think she can get away with gracing Google Trends with another time-wasting TwitPic like this one again. She might have lost some conservative followers, but I'm willing to bet she gained several less politically-minded Twitter peepers in exchange.

I didn't see the photo, so I really have no opinion of how she handled it. Stupid for posting it, if improper, though.
