Mel Gibson Finds Support in Friends and Family During Court Battle with Oksana Grigorieva

As Mel Gibson and his representatives try to rebuild his reputation after rage and racist filled recordings surfaced from ex girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, he is finding support and love through his family and friends.

As his nasty legal and custody battle with Grigorieva becomes a tabloid mess, sources close to Gibson and his estranged wife Robyn Gibson said the pair still talk several times a day. The couple was married for 28 years before separating in 2009 after it was revealed Mel had left her for Oksana who was pregnant with the couples daughter, Lucia. Mel and Robyn are the parents of 7 children together.

Although Robyn is still going through with the divorce, she still talks to Mel everyday to try and offer moral support. His children also stand behind their father and his decision to fight Oksana for custody of their daughter. Robyn and Mel still continue to have an active roll in raising their younger children.

Robyn was also in court on Friday to declare in a statement before the court that she and her children never experienced any form of domestic violence or verbal abuse while the couple was together.

Mel Gibson also finds support in his long time friends such as Whoopi Goldberg who took to her show The View last week to defend the actor and director against what she called malicious lies cooked up by tabloids and gossip sites to try and destroy Gibson's character and reputation. Goldberg also went on to say she knows Mel isn't a racist or anti-Semite.

Mel Gibson's lawyers are already calling into question the iPhone App Oksana Grigorieva claims she used to secretly record the actor calling her a "Wh*re" *Sl*t" and "C*nt" before including a racist word to tell her he wouldn't care if she was raped. Gibson's lawyers claim the person on several of the records isn't Mel Gibson and the ones they claim he is on were tampered with to make a conversation that never happened.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's office is investigating whether Mel assaulted Oksana before bringing possible domestic violence charges against him.

A source close to Mel Gibson and his family told People Magazine, "He has a good support system in his friends and family" and that his kids are "absolutely" standing by their father.
