Mel Gibson Rants Again, 'Harry Potter' Actress Threatened and Spider-Man Gets a New Face

Sarah F. Sullivan
As we round out the week in anticipation of a nice Fourth of July weekend, some members of Hollywood aren't so lucky. Mel Gibson is again in the limelight for his less-than-favorable rant against ex Oksana Grigorieva, and that's putting it lightly. In another bizarre incident, a Harry Potter actress' father and brother appeared in court for allegedly threatening to kill her.

Mel Loses It. . .Again.

Mel, what are we going to do with you? You had slowly but surely built yourself back up after that little anti-Semitic rant in 2006, but now, I'm not sure the public is going to forgive you so easily.

The rants and threats allegedly spoken by Gibson, 54, toward his ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, 40, are contained on a tape made by Grigorieva. According to RadarOnline, who claims to have listened to the 30-minute tape, the recording contains a variety of colorful and inflammatory quips towards Grigorieva. The C-word, the F-word, and even the N-word are explosively dropped, all nicely packaged with threats like burning Grigorieva's house down.

The recording was supposedly made in the midst of the couple's breakup and custody battle. Allegedly, Grigorieva has also purportedly held onto multiple equally inflammatory e-mails from Gibson. Furthermore, Grigorieva reportedly took out a restraining order against the actor when she said he became violent and punched her multiple times in the face.

Gibson's representative has said nothing about the rant, and his lawyer referred to the incident in which Gibson punched his ex as a "loud argument."

Have a good weekend pondering the end of your career, Mel.

Harry Potter Actress Threatened?

Actress Afshan Azad, who plays Padma Patil in the famous fantasy films, has recently come out with news that her father and brother had threatened to kill her during a fight last month.

Allegedly, the incident was sparked by Azad's father and brother arguing over her boyfriend, insisting that she end the relationship. When she refused, Azad was allegedly beaten and left "badly bruised," according to Britain's Daily Express.

Abdul Azad, 54, and Ashraf, 28, were accused of threatening to kill the actress at Manchester Magistrates Court on Tuesday. Ashraf was also charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Both men have been released on bail until July 12.

Meet the New Spider-Man!

Just so we have a sprinkling of good news to send us off, there's a new Spider-Man in town! Newcomer Andrew Garfield, most recently starring with Heath Ledger in The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus and will be seen opposite Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan in Never Let Me Go, just received the news Thursday afternoon.

The original plan was to make Spider-Man 4 with its original star, Tobey Maguire, and director, Sam Raimi. However, when it was stalled in pre-production, the studio decided to start over and do a prequel.

Garfield, who was utterly charming in Parnassus, has big shoes to fill, but, undoubtedly, he'll do so with flying colors.
