Mel Gibson's Rage Could End His Career

The Bigger They Are, the Harder They Fall

Mel Gibson has amassed a fortune in his years as a Hollywood star but can his legend survive the rage revealed in the audio tapes released by Radaronline.com? You would have to be living under a rock not to have heard some of the explosive profanity filled tapes which have been filling recent entertainment headlines.

Ex-girlfriend, Ukrainian singer, Oksana Grigorieva and Gibson are involved in a custody dispute over their 8-month old baby girl. Grigorieva denies releasing the exclusive tapes to Radaronline.com. Gibson has been accused of hitting Grigorieva in the face while she held the child, leaving bruises on the baby and breaking Grigorieva's teeth and causing a concussion.

Good Morning America brought in an expert to dispute the authenticity of said tapes today. Apparently the tapes are thought to have been edited due to long pauses and the clearness of Grigorieva's voice compared to Gibson's voice. "One of the things that you have to know is that nobody at this point can authenticate it's Mel's voice -- not 100 percent," Bonnie Fuller editor of HollywoodLife.com asserted.

Edited or not, what these tapes, in which Gibson screams profanity at Grigorieva, reveal is the depth of rage in Gibson. In late June, she applied for a restraining order against Gibson. Now the Los Angeles police department has gotten involved; investigating Gibson for domestic violence.

Many actors have survived scandals with their careers intact. Can Gibson? Probably not, the accusations just keep coming. Besides the tapes which keep coming, five released in the last two weeks, Radar has now released photos of a beaten Grigorieva.

Gibson has had a history of inflammatory comments and bad behavior. Gibson's bad behavior first hit the news in 1991 when he made homophobic comments to the Spanish newspaper, El PaĆs. In 1995, he stated in a Playboy interview that, "men and women are just different. They're not equal." To date he has offended: women, Jewish people, blacks, and gays. He had a drunk driving conviction in 2006 and is now being investigated for domestic abuse. Who hasn't he offended?

Audio tapes and photos can be found at Radaronline.com.

I feel sorry for his wife and child. Hopefully he can rebound from this as a human and an actor. There will need to be some deep soul searching and accountability.

Good article. It's a shame because he pleases audiences as an actor. Good article. Laura Everly

If you are interested, I always do comment for comment. You view all the pages of one of my articles and leave a small comment to let me know you were there and I'll come and view all the pages of one of your articles to let you know I was there. We know by the comment. Often my comments have to be just copy and paste or very short, but I'm still reading your content.

Perhaps equally disturbing as Mel Gibson's tirade is the public's flippant response to it. Specific ethnic and religous groups may be fairly offended by Gibson's remarks they have not been damaged by his cutting inappropriate rants. Others who question the involvement and motives of ex-girlfriend Okasana do merit consideration but what ultimately shocks me is that peolple are overlooking a very real statement in the audiotape of an admission of a crime (an assault) AND continued threats to assault and kill another human being. What's happened America?? We are not a third world country where stoning a woman is legal... or are we. Are we observing another OJ Simpson situation unfolding as we make our sarcastic, suspicious, and comedic comments- think about.

I understand Timonthy Dalton is going to Okasana's home giving her advice! Why doesn't he marry her and give their son a name and father?

This is karma for both, no good woman will go into relationship with a married man. Sorry for you Mr Gibson. that is what you get for the pain you give to your wife and children.....

I never cared for him in the first place. Drunk or sober, he shouldn't have hit her! Talent has nothing to do with it.
