Melanie's Kold Kup: The Best Kept Secret in Orangeville, Pennsylvania

One of the best kept secrets of the Orangeville area in rural Pennsylvania is surely Melanie's Kold Kup. This small town restaurant is known for its ice cream, and yummy snacks. If you're in the area, take a break and enjoy some good food.

Kold Kup is located on Route 487- 2 miles north of Orangeville. It sits in between two fields which add to the quiet and relaxing atmosphere. There are picnic tables on the side of the building, benches in the front, along with booths inside for those who prefer to enjoy the air conditioning. On any given summer night, a Little League baseball team is waiting in line for their ice cream cones while talking about their game. Even though there may be a line, it moves quickly and every item is prepared just for you. No hot dogs or hamburgers that have been sitting out for hours.

Kold Kup has a variety of ice creams including soft serve, hand-dipped ice cream, floats, shakes, sugar-free, frozen yogurt and sundaes that will make your mouth water. Aside from ice cream, they have 'real food' if you would like to make a meal of it. Chicken fingers, salads, cheese steaks, fried fish, onion rings, hot dogs, fries, and hamburgers to name a few. Iced tea, soda, water, slushies, coffee and hot tea are on hand to drink. There is always a fresh baked pie on the counter, just waiting for someone to devour it. Each day, there is a sundae and basket of the day to give you a bargain. Everything from CMP's (Chocolate ice cream, Marshmallow and Peanut Butter) and VMP's (Vanilla ice cream, Marshmallow and Peanut Butter) to hot chocolate sundaes or banana splits. There is something for everyone and you won't be disappointed.

Kold Kup has been in business for 10 years and there is no end in sight. It's the dedication of the owners and workers to make each customers experience as wonderful as the last that keeps them going. They have reasonable prices which keeps bringing customers back. They are open Sunday-Thursday 11am-9pm, Friday and Saturday 11am-930pm.

I can only hope that when my children have children, they will be able to take them to Melanie's Kold Kup for an ice cream cone, as I take my son now. There's just something about being out on a summer night and having an ice cream cone that completes the day.
