Melissa Etheridge is known for her gritty and heart-felt voice and lyrics as well as the intriguing guitar riffs that accompany her songs. Some of her most popular songs were heard all over the radio in the mid-90s, even earning her two Grammy awards for Best Female Rock Performance for the "Come to My Window" and "I'm the Only One." Other memorable songs include, "Breathe, "I Want to Come Over," and "If I Wanted To."
In addition to her previous albums (my favorite is still Yes I Am), Etheridge released a new album in the spring of 2010 titled, Fearless Love." I recently listened to and purchased the album on iTunes, and I enjoyed the tracks. I can't imagine that any Melissa Etheridge fan would be disappointed by this album.
Melissa Etheridge is known for her activism and positive message as much as her music. She is a breast cancer survivor and an advocate for gay and lesbian rights. I am excited to see her on tour, am excited for the concert, and glad she has released a new album. At the Civic Center of Greater Des Moines, you can enjoy performances of top Broadway plays and musicals, musicians, and other performing artists. Over the years, I've been to the Civic Center several times to see Peter, Paul, and Mary, "Les Miserables," Mannheim Steamroller, and "Rent." The Civic Center is a beautiful establishment located in the heart of downtown Des Moines, located at Third and Locust streets. I feel fortunate to have experienced many events at this theater and look forward to another in the Melissa Etheridge concert.
