Review
Memiary is a great tool for individuals who wish to keep records of their daily activities. It is a very light application and does not require a lot of effort to keep updated - it is focused on simply keeping a record of up to five memorable things that happened in a day.
The service offered by Memiary has been available online for a while; the iPhone application is an extension of this service. Memiary for the iPhone provides automatic synchronization with the web application. Once an internet connection is established, all the stored items in the Memiary iPhone app will automatically sync with the website, making the records easily accessible online.
The application supports hash tags, which are used in searching and categorizing items. Users can browse by time, tags or date using the navigation bar. Editing and viewing records are also supported.
Memiary is fully integrated with Twitter. Quite burdensome to set up, Twitter integration allows users to record events on Memiary through Twitter. Any recorded events on Memiary may also be exported to Outlook, Google's calendar or iCal. However, this is only available when done using the online account and not the iPhone application.
A few complaints about the iPhone application: it has a few bugs that should be addressed. The synchronization function is not as well-done as what one might expect - it often omits events and puts days out of order. Aside from this, the keyboard hides the fourth and fifth items. Users cannot scroll down to view the bottom of the screen.
The concept behind the application is excellent. The application in itself works fine. However, there are a few bugs that need to be fixed. Also, getting some of the functionality of the online service available on the iPhone application won't hurt as well.
Pricing
The Memiary application is available for purchase in the App Store for only $0.99.
Conclusion
The application's integration with the iPhone is average. However, the user interface is a bit better than that. The re-usability of the app is excellent as well. Overall, Memiary gets a rating of 4 out of 5.
