Memorable Moments

Thomas Haupt
I would be able to recall the image

Of the cliché, cloudless night.

How the stars' radiance shown

Through that bright, big city light.

I would describe the autumn air,

How it felt to drape your shoulders with my coat.

Or the band's gentle melody,

You could seize every single fresh note.

I would remember the dessert,

Or every flavor in the five star meal.

I would remember the red wine flowing,

Those moments in your eyes were utterly surreal.

I would depict the scene

As we walked a long that vacant pier

The tender scent of your hair

As the crisp autumn air drew us near

I would reveal the feelings of butterflies

How my hands shook, almost on cue

As I pushed back the defiant strands of hair

And let the beauty of your face shine through

I would tell you what was on my mind

Before you opened your door into my sight

But the only thing I can remember,

Was how beautiful you looked that night.

No words could describe just how beautiful you were

That night
