Memorial Day 2010 Events in Volusia County

With Memorial Day Weekend starting today many people will be traveling to events, parades and tributes to American soldiers who have sacrificed their lives for this country. Many will take the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful Florida weather at a beach along the Atlantic Ocean or a picnic in the park.

The following are a listing of events happening this Memorial Day Weekend.

Saturday May 29th 2010

A tribute and salute to the men and women on active duty starting at 10AM at Prince of Peace Church, 600 S. Nova Road, Ormond Beach. Call 386-255-3814 for more information.

A performance of "Ever and Always...Hayden". Proceeds from ticket sales will go to benefit Honor Air Flight 6. Show starts at 7PM at the Athens Theatre, 124 N. Florida Ave., DeLand. Tickets cost $10. For more information call 386-736-1500.

Memorial Day May 31st 2010

Memorial Day Service - Guest speaker is Col. Arthur Keating, U.S. Army. This service will also include a flyover, a 21-gun salute and more starting at 9AM at Rockefeller Gardens, 25 Riverside Drive, Ormond Beach. For more information call 386-676-3241.

Memorial Day Service - The service will include placing wreaths on war veterans graves, guest speakers and more starting at 10AM at Deltona Memorial Gardens, 1295 Saxon Blvd., Deltona. For more information call 386-775-4260.

Memorial Day Ceremony - The VFW Post #4250 Honor Guard will assemble to pay respects to deceased veterans starting at 10AM at the Glencoe-Geiger Cemetery on Sugar Mill Drive between State Road 44 and Pioneer Trail, New Smyrna Beach. For more information call 386-427-6281.

Memorial Day Ceremony - This service will feature VFW Post #4250 members and auxiliary starting at 11AM at Riverside Park, 105 Riverside Drive, New Smyrna Beach. For more information call 386-427-6281.

Memorial Day Ceremony - This service will feature Bill Coleman, an Army staff sergeant, now retired, whose experiences in World War II were included in the HBO mini-series "Band of Brothers," starting at 11AM at the Daytona Memorial Park, 1425 Bellevue Ave., Daytona Beach.
