Lake County is the smallest county in Ohio. Many of its towns and villages manage to retain a small-town atmosphere near the urban area of Cleveland. Here is a list of some of the events planned for Memorial Day and the Fourth of July, in Lake County.

Memorial Day

In Eastlake, a Memorial Day service will be sponsored by V.F.W. Post 3863 at the Boulevard of Flags, which is at Lakeshore Boulevard and SOM Center Road (Route 91). It will take place at 11:00 a.m. on May 26th. Everyone is invited to attend

In Madison, there will be a Memorial Day Parade on May 26th, at 11:00 a.m.

In Mentor, a walking parade will start at 9:30 a.m. from the Heinen's parking lot (8850 Mentor Avenue). The parade proceeds east along Mentor Avenue, then north on Hopkins Road to the Mentor Municipal Cemetery, 6881 Hopkins Road. Services will take place near the Vietnam Memorial there.

Wickliffe will have a Memorial Day parade starting at 10:00 a.m., coordinated by American Legion Post #7. It begins at ABB, Inc., 29801 Euclid Avenue, then goes to City Hall for services, then to Wickliffe Cemetery for final honors.

Willoughby's Memorial Day parade is at 9:30 a.m. The parade starts on Erie Street in downtown Willoughby, then goes via Park Ave. to Willoughby Cemetery. There will be ceremonies immediately following the parade. In case of rain, the parade will be cancelled, but the ceremonies will be held.

Willoughby Hills will have a Memorial Day Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial in front of the Willoughby Hills Community Center, 35400 Chardon Road (across from the fire station).

Fourth of July

Eastlake plans fireworks on July 4th at Classic Park Stadium, sponsored by donations from business and civic groups.

Fairport Harbor will have fireworks on July 6th at dusk.

Mentor is having Fourth of July Family Festivities on July 4th at Civic Center Park, 8500 Civic Center Boulevard. There will be an evening of free family entertainment and music, juggling, clowns and giant inflatables from 6:30 to 9:45 p.m., with fireworks starting at about 9:50 p.m. Best viewing from anywhere in Civic Center Park and Mentor High School.

There will also be a July 4th parade at Headlands Beach State Park, 9601 Headlands Road
Mentor, OH 44060. The annual July 4th Parade in the Headlands starts at 12 noon at Forest and Garden, heads east on Garden, then north on Corduroy. It's sponsored by the Headlands' Mentor Day Festival Association.
