Memorial Day Layouts & Graphics for MySpace

Jessica Ann
This Memorial Day why don't you show your support on MySpace and decorate your page with everything patriotic. Memorial Day was officially proclaimed on May 5, 1868 and was first observed on May 30, 1868 to honor those who died fighting in the Civil War and was later changed to honor all Americans who died fighting in any war. It was always observed on May 30th until Congress made it into a three day weekend under the National Holiday Act of 1971 which changed the observance day to the last Monday in May. Many feel this change undermined the meaning of the day and since 1999 bills have been introduced to return the national observance day back to May 30th, but none have yet to be passed. In an attempt to remind Americans of the purpose of Memorial Day, the "National Moment of Remembrance" resolution, which was passed in December, 2000, asks that all Americans, on Memorial Day at 3:00 p.m. local time, to "voluntarily and informally observe in their own was a moment of remembrance and respect..." so how about we all try to remember to do that this year.

Now let's get to the sites that you can find all the stuff you need to make a cool looking MySpace page in remembrance of this day.

www.coolholidaygraphics.com/memorialday/ - This pretty much has all in one. You may just find everything you could possibly need right here, but please check out the others also before deciding on anything. Layouts, glitters, comments, cursors, dividers, banners, contact tables and falling objects are choices you have here.

www.xoospace.com/index.php?go=graphics&ctgy_id=1057 - Tons of graphics, including contact tables, online now icons and comments.

www.xoospace.com/index.php?go=layouts&p=1&q=memorial+day&order=layouts_id+DESC - You will find a few layouts here suited for Memorial Day. Also search under Military layouts for more choices

www.wishafriend.com/countdown/memorialday/ - A couple countdown generators to add to your page. Just fill in the current information and when placed on your MySpace page it will countdown to Memorial Day. These are always neat to have. (Did I just say neat?)

www.wishafriend.com/graphics/holidays/memorialday/ - A few simple graphic comments here.

www.glittergeek.com/comments/holidays/memorial-day/ - Lots of choices of glittering graphics here with quite a few sayings.

www.satisfaction.com/codes/memorial-day-1.php - I really like the graphics here and they are very colorful and bold. Great choices, especially if your looking for slightly larger graphics.

www.pimpoo.com/graphics/Memorial_Day_Comment_Graphics/ - Great selection of large Memorial Day graphics. Colorful, bold and some are glittering.

www.layoutsville.com/c/29/Military/1 - Another option is to set a layout which is specific to a certain branch of the armed forces. Then you can add Memorial Day graphics to the foreground. Here's a few layout options for such a purpose.

No matter what you decide to use to decorate your MySpace page, please try to remember the purpose of Memorial Day. It can be as simple as wearing that "red poppy" flower a vet hands you outside the grocery store, sticking a flag in your front yard and also taking that "Moment of Remembrance" at 3:00 pm on Memorial Day. Let's at the very least try to remind ourselves and educate our children on what this day is all about, especially since it appears we will be adding more to the list of soldiers to be honored. God Bless Them All!
