Memorial day is an honorable day of remembering the men and women who have fought for our country's freedom. We take freedom for granted every day. And our students are learning to take many things for granted such as freedom.
Teachers have the opportunity to teach our children the value of freedom. The lesson plans support the importance of freedom and remembering those who have fought for our country. It is an honor to design these lesson plans in honor of all those heroes.
WALL OF PEACE. The world isn't as peaceful as it should be. Wall of peace is a specific wall given honor to those men and women. The wall of peace can be of photographs, poetry, letters or even quotes. This is design to have a wall collection of peaceful items.
LETTER TO TROOPS. Soldiers enjoy receiving letters from home and others. There are so many soldiers who do not receive mail. A simple thank you means a great deal to them. You can't imagine how grateful a single letter to them is. A letter says a collection of a thousand words. Do you wish to write a solider? Be sure to check out the resource section.
PLANT A TREE. This may not seem unique but it gives honor to every solider; dead or alive. A new planted tree brings new beginnings to our lives. More than one tree can be planted. The choice is yours. The tip to planting a tree is to choose a tree that is natural to the area.
FLAG MURAL. The object of this is to fly or hang all flags at half stance in honor of all soldiers. Flags are the perfect representation of respect and honor. The flag mural is designed to give worship to the flag and the soldiers.
SNAPSHOT IN TIME. This is similar to the wall of peace. The snapshot in time is a collage of photographs. Each photo represents a different time in our history of war. A snapshot gives honor to every man and woman. Every war becomes apart of the snapshot in time project. Don't limit yourself to the wars or photographs or even letters.
WORD FOR HISTORY. Memorial day is in the month of May. For every day of the month, teach the students a new word. For example; freedom, war Vietnam, and various other words. The words need to represent the American and Memorial day history.
MEMORY BOX. A memory box is a collection of memories associated with Memorial day. Photographs, awards, letters or various other items. The memory box is in the hands of the students imagination and creativity.
ABC KNOWLEDGE. Each letter of the alphabet represents words of the war history. Letters of the alphabet give the students the opportunity to learn all there is to know. Not only do the students gain knowledge but also give respect and honor to everyone.
Every lesson plan is giving respect and remembrance to those who have fought for our country. As a teacher, the design of the lesson plan is in your hands. Memorial day is a honorable holiday in our American history. The celebration of this day shouldn't be limited to one day a year. Memorial day is a holiday that should be celebrated every day of the year. All men and women shouldn't be forgotten.
As a teacher you have the power to give students the tools of our history. Each lesson plan will spark new interesting ideas based upon these lesson plans. No lesson plan is complete without the pages of American history. Life is full of memories. Some of them are not given the honor and remembrance they deserve. But with these lesson plans they are brought back to life.
