Talk to anyone in New Jersey and they'll tell you, Memorial Day is the unofficial first day of summer. Though it might be a tiny state, New Jersey is packed with events planned for Memorial Day weekend 2010.

Memorial Day Events New Jersey-Tour of Somerville

Nicknamed the "Kentucky Derby of Cycling", this 50 mile bike tour takes place on Memorial Day, May 31st. The event is free to watch or be part of. Also part of the day's events: live music and children's activities.

Memorial Day Events New Jersey-Wildwood International Kite Festival

Taking place the entire Memorial Day Weekend, The 25th Annual Wildwood International Kite Festival kicks off on Friday at noon with a media event at the Wildwood Convention Center. Festivities begin later that night at 9pm with an illuminated night kite fly. For information, click here.

Memorial Day Events New Jersey-Dawn Patrol Motorcycle Club Memorial Day Run, Bridgewater

Rev up your Harley this Memorial Day and participate in a 60 mile motorcycle run through Somerset and Hunterdon Counties on May 31, 2010. Sign in starts at 9am. The ride begins at noon at the Bradley Gardens Firehouse and ends at the Dawn Patrol MC Clubhouse in Bridgewater. $15 fee covers your food and beverages.

Memorial Day Events New Jersey-Vietnam Veteran's Memorial Day Ceremony, Holmdel

This is truly what Memorial Day is all about...remembering those who served our country. The Memorial Day Ceremony takes place on May 31st at 11am at the NJ Vietnam Veteran's Memorial near the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel. Ceremony happens rain or shine.

Memorial Day Events New Jersey-Blues and Wine Festival, Peapack Gladstone

Live music and wine go perfect together at this annual event at Natirar Park in Somerset County. This two day festival takes place on May 29 and 30th from noon to 5 pm. For more information, call 609-588-0085.

Memorial Day Events New Jersey-Freehold Memorial Day Parade The 136th annual (yes that's 136 years!) Freehold Memorial Day Parade is the oldest and largest in Western Monmouth County. Come see this historic annual event kick off on May 31st at 10am near Brinkerhoff Avenue. Trivia: Freehold is the hometown of Bruce Springsteen.
