Rockport, Texas, know as the "Charm of the Texas Coast," hosts many festivals and carnivals throughout the year but the Texas Festival of Wines is definitely just for grown ups! Presented by the Maritime Museum, the festival will be held May 28 and 29 on the Texas Maritime Museum grounds. The fifteenth annual Texas Festival of Wines offers everything from music, and food, to products and well- wine!
Tickets are $20 per person and are good all day, or you can purchase a two day pass for $30 per person. This may seem steep in comparison to other Rockport/Fulton area festivals but rest assured it is all worth it! Each ticket to the Texas Festival of Wines ensures you get a complimentary wine glass, and three tasting tickets! Additional tasting tickets are just $1 a piece. The Texas Festival of Wines begins at 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and the festivities will begin to wind down around 11 p.m.
Live music will start the moment you walk in the gates, and continue well into the night! This year The Texas Festival of Wines is offering up some good old Texas country with bands like Joe Ely Band, Westbound, and Corpus Christi's own Lighter Ray. On Sunday enjoy the bluesy country sound of Cody Angel from 4 to 7 p.m.
Enjoy the music while you browse various vendors under the Big Tent. The submission process for vendors is vary strict, so rest assured you will only be perusing the very best wares. Products must be relevant to the festival, and vendor reviewers are careful to make sure there are not multiple vendors selling the same types of products.
Food Demonstrations will be held throughout the Texas Festival of Wines. Pop in if you are one of those folks who never knows which wine should be paired with a dish. Watch several local chefs in action as they cook up a storm and pair their dish with the perfect wine. These food demonstrations will culminate in Sunday evening's "Teflon Chef," cooking competition. Contestants will be given a certain ingredient, unknown beforehand, and must use them in their creations! It will be judged by a highly esteemed group of judges.
If you get a little hungry after watching all that cooking head on over to the food tent. While actual food vendors have yet to be determined for this years Texas Festival of Wines, there will be plenty of delicious, mouth watering treats for you to choose from as always. In the previous fourteen years of the Texas Festival of Wines, patrons have never been left wanting!
