So it was my birthday in October 22, 1964. I had big surprise for me waiting with ribbons on it. Turn out to be my very first bike. It was pink with white seat that scoop and huge handle bars. It was pretty fancy. I was so exicited and wanted to learn to ride it. At first my parents tried to see if i could ride without help. Turn out that i needed some help. So i had to wait a little longer my dad went and got some training wheels to put on my bike to help me learn to ride the bike and get used to riding it. Til i was ready to balance myself with the bike. One day my day took off the training wheels. I was little nervous as a child going without them. My dad gave me a good push. He kept telling me to keep paddling the bike. Well i was so happy that i could ride my bike without the training wheels and ride the bike all over.
I do remember one main rule my parents told me was never to ride the bike in the road always walk the bike across the road. I was only allow to ride on my bike on the sidewalk. Til i was old enough to respect and know the rules for bike's safety on the road.
As i got older there was a bike race contest. I wanted to go and i did go to it. It was on saturday. The weather was a gloomy day it was but it didn't stop the bike race contest. I didn't win and i didn't care to win. I just wanted to be with other kids that had their bikes. Just having fun riding bikes. There was a police officer who had talked about bike safety on the road and rules to be on road. I was glad i went to that. I had learned so much about bikes and rules of safety of bikes. To learn the hands signals when we are on the road riding bikes.
So when i look back on my memories of my first bike. What my parents did for me in getting the bike so i can learn to ride and enjoy bike riding. I have had alot of enjoyment in bike riding throught the years. I am glad my parents got me the bike to have and to enjoy. It's give me great memories of my bike. So get out there and ride your bike and enjoy it.
