Memories of my First concert: Garth Brooks - Getting the Tickets
In the early 1990s, my mom brought me to my cousin's house to be babysat so that she could go stand in line early in the morning. I knew she was going to try to buy Garth Brooks tickets, and I was nervous the whole time I waited for her. I remember watching out a window that was high off the ground (I must have been in an apartment). When she finally pulled back up, she shook her head no and I was devastated - but when she came in, she laughed and told me that of course she got the tickets! This was in the early 1990s, and I'm not sure I was even older than 10 at the time.

Memories of my First concert: Garth Brooks: the Concert Itself
I don't remember much about the concert (I was very young!), but I do remember that it was in Portland, Maine, and that we brought binoculars with us - this was the time before civic centers had huge video screens displaying the artist you were seeing. I remember singing along with every single song that he sang, and being nervous that we were so high off the ground. Garth Brooks is one of the most well-known musicians in the world, and is known for putting on an excellent show. He has used a wireless headset for as long as I can remember to allow him to run around on stage, and I don't think the man stopped moving once while I watched his performance. I remember clearly the press of people when we went out after the concert to buy T-Shirts - the design was blue and purple, with Garth Brooks on the front, and the screen-printing made his front teeth look kind of funny, but I loved that shirt so much! I think my mom must have "retired" it for me, because I don't know where it ended up.

Memories of my First concert: Garth Brooks - Afterwards
At the end of the show, I remember being very, very tired (my bedtime was 8 PM when I was that age), and I fell asleep on the car ride home. I'm not sure why, but I slept on the couch that night - maybe it was to keep me from waking my sister up - and I didn't have to go to school the next day. I still remember that Garth Brooks concert fondly!
