Memories Are Made of This: Dean Martin's Daughter Deana Martin Sings the Hits of Her Father

Jennifer Anne Hart

I was excited to discover this CD, released just last month, and the first by Deana Martin, daughter of the magnificent, and one-and-only Dean Martin. Most remember this legendary entertainer from his movies with Jerry Lewis, all those incredible classic songs, and a favorite member of the "Rat Pack," and none of those guys were slouches!

This great new CD showcases all of Dean's songs you remember and love, combining the contemporary, yet classic sweet voice of daughter Deana. I was surprised to learn this was only her first CD, since she has such a great voice. Charles Calello was the musical arranger, along with some of the original Rat Pack band members, so the essence of Dino is truly there! "Time After Time," which is the final track on the album even features Jerry Lewis.

All of the hits are here like Everybody Loves Somebody, Ain't That A Kick In The Head, and of course, Memories Are Made of This. If you loved Dean, you're sure to like this album. Deana Martin recalls childhood days in the studio and what it was like to hear the artists of the Rat Pack right in her own home:

"Growing up my living room was filled with the sounds of Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and all the artists whose songs I perform on this album. The best part is, they were actually there in person. They are all a significant and timeless part of music history and an integral part of my life. I enjoyed every minute of being in the studio and record-ing these songs that have always been a special part of my life.

On this I have recorded many hits of my father's and his pals. This recording was a labor of love for me utilizing everything my dad taught me about singing, about performing and most of all about living. It gives me great pleasure to be able to share this journey with you." (Amazon.com)

If you're looking for a new twist on some of the geatest old songs ever written, you won't miss with this great new album, recorded in heart-felt tribute to one of the great voices of all time.

I am a sucker for nostalgia, so I am a classic TV and movie nerd. My great loves are my family, animals, Elvis, James Bond, Robert Wagner, Scooby-Doo, thrash-metal music, and Steve McQueen!  View profile
