Although everyday in Memphis, Tennessee is a celebration, the holidays are truly special and significant because it always feels like home. People can go all over the world, but being in Memphis gives a person warmth, soul, laughter, and good vibes overall. In Memphis, the holidays are filled with events, whether the activities consist of hanging out with family at home, or going with friends or co-workers out on the town. If you are visiting Memphis this holiday season, make sure to check out the following venues:

Sports: Memphians are hysterically supportive of the teams that represent our great city. The Memphis Grizzlies is a team that plays with heart, really participates in charitable activities, and understands the importance of living life. The team plays in the one of Memphis's most amazing buildings, the FedEx Forum, which happens to be located in the downtown area very close to the infamous Beale Street. This newly built arena is a favorite for everyone and as basketball season is approaching, Memphians cannot wait to attend games and watch the Grizzlies play. The FedEx Forum is also used to attend The University of Memphis Tigers basketball games, which are equally exciting to all residents. Everyone really expresses their team spirit by wearing the school's signature blue and gray colors with the tiger emblem decorating the t-shirt. This holiday season is sure to be special and filled with the team spirit that Memphis residents love to share.

Plays: The Orpheum Theatre is a very special spot in the downtown area that holds concerts and plays designed to captivate an audience. The Orpheum holds a very interesting history and is supported by many because of its longstanding wonders. The Orpheum has a beautiful interior that has been home to many celebrity performances. There are numerous events being held at the Orpheum this holiday season. In November for instance, Tyler Perry will do a five-day run of his new inspirational play What's Done in the Dark (Will Come to the Light). There will be many great performances to attend here in Memphis at the Orpheum Theatre.

Beale Street: Embedded in the heart of the downtown area, Beale Street pulsates with an endless energy that reaches and captures the attention of people all over the world. The entertainment is marvelous and there are a variety of shops to visit while strolling down the street. The music you would hear is a blend of blues and jazz, but inside different clubs are other genres of music like country, R & B, or Hip-hop. Beale Street attracts a multitude of personalities and is a wonderful setting for mingling. Dining is also apart of the Beale Street experience, for one can have dinner at the Hard Rock Café on one side or enjoy food from Alfred's at the other end of the street. B. B. King's Blues Club is a favorite of many, with its musical atmosphere giving Beale Street the

Shopping: Two words can really describe one of the most interesting establishments that I've ever enjoyed visiting in Memphis: Wolfechase Mall. Simply writing that down gave me the chills! I love this mall and if you even drive pass the building, you'll notice that many other residents love the Wolfechase Galleria Mall as well. There has never been a day that the mall wasn't completely packed with people, I assure you. This two-story mall has all types of interesting stores from which a person could shop to their hearts content. Macy's, Bebe, Guess, Dillards, The Limited, Eddie Bauer, and the Gap are some of the many stores to choose from in this mall. There are always special events going on that really gets the communities involved and one can definitely find great deals as well. The holidays are chaotic, but when filled with the spirit of sharing, unity, and love of life, it makes shopping for others that much more special.

Memphis, Tennessee has so many wonderful attractions and would be an excellent place for anyone to celebrate the holidays with family and friends. In the fall, there are numerous parades to attend that really put everyone in such a lighthearted mood. The warmth radiates from the inside, even on a cold afternoon. The churches in the city of Memphis always hold special programs to invite everyone to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas. There are countless other things to do such as visit the museums, the historical venues such as the Civil Rights Museum, and even places to view other artistic wonders. Memphis makes every holiday season worth celebrating.
