Men of Iron

Book Report

Eric Cooper
When Myles Falsworth was only eight years old he was struck with tragedy. He was standing next ho his blind father in a castle. Every thing seemed so strangely calm to him. Sir John Dale was answering some questions to a secretary when someone yelled something out then struck Sir John with a mace. The next day Myles Falsworth, his mother and father moved out of the castle. Their lives were changed forever.

Myles was reared secluded from most of the world.
He was, however, well trained in wrestling. He could beat every boy in the area.

When Myles was sixteen years old his father announced that Myles should leave and receive some advanced training. His father gave him a letter to give to his long time ago friend, the Earl of Macksworth. When Myles arrived at Macksworth the Earl reluctantly accepted him because he was the son of his old friend.

Soon after his arrival Myles became acquainted with Gascoyne, who was one of the lower ranking people there. He helped Myles fit in and get familiar with Macksworth. He soon earned the respect of several at Macksworth. He even stirred a rebellion against the cruel bachelors.(They were the higher ranking trainees.)

About a year after Myles arrived at Macksworth, Sir James Lee( the main trainer) summoned him. When he was in Sir James's presence he informed him that Lord Falsworth (Myles's father) was an outlaw due to a false charge of treason against the king, and had lost his all his wealth to the Earl of Alban. Myles was enraged at the news, and from then on his only goal was to restore his father's Honor.

About five years later Myles was final able to meet his goal. He faced the Earl of Alban in a duel. He and the Early were seriously injured, but Myles prevailed! His father;s Honor was restored!

I recommend Men of Iron because it is full of suspense, fun, and historical fact of the Middle Ages. Also it shows what true courage and loyalty look like. It is a great book!
