Taking the clue from the acceptance of male metrosexuals, men's girdle underwear has gone main stream. Metrosexuals, in case you do not know, are those men with sharp dressing skills who thrive on looking awesome.
Metrosexuals are not necessarily gay or bisexual, but they are not afraid to express their feminine side. They usually have a great deal of disposable income and live in classy urban areas. They love to shop. They buy only the most fashionable clothing and accessories. Hair style is paramount, personalized and expensive. They buy and use the newest expensive colognes, hair and skin care products.
Metrosexuals are obsessive about their appearance, cleanliness and grooming. They may take a very long time showering and getting dressed. They sometimes even get body hair removed (chest hair and back-waxing), but, they do not look effeminate. They are real men, perfectly dressed and groomed, and they smell good. They may be movie stars, TV personalities, entertainers or sport's heroes.
Their bodies are wonderfully toned and trim from daily workouts in the gym perhaps with their own personal trainer. Their metrosexual look has become the standard today for male attractiveness. The fashion industry has noticed this, and is now touting the metrosexual look for every man.
Metrosexuals have been around for years. From Cary Grant and Gregory Peck, to #1 metrosexual David Beckham and cutie- pie metrosexual Ryan Seacrest, we love looking at beautiful men. Sports heroes Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Joe Namath (who says he was the original sport's metrosexual) and Sinatra's Rat Pack pals, are all examples of famous metrosexuals.
But back to reality, no metrosexual would ever have a beer belly or love handles. So what should an ordinary man (like John McCain's Joe the Plumber) do if he too wants to be a metrosexual? He should start small. The first step (after showering, shaving and brushing his teeth) is to contain his belly fat.
Thanks to spandex and today's engineering, a man can smooth out most upper body flab with today's new man -girdles and shapewear. Man-girdles are available in compression undershirts and high waist briefs. It all depends on the problem area.
A compression undershirt is helpful particularly if the man suffers from "man boobs." The shirt flattens out the chest area nicely as well as most of the belly. If the bottom area and buttocks are not up to par, girdle briefs might help. Some briefs even have a little extra padding for front and back appeal. If all else fails there is the man-girdle suit which covers both top and bottom.
Men's girdle-derwear is made from nylon, lycra and spandex and sold under such names as Insta-Slim, Zip 'n Trim, Fit and Trim, Belly Buster Briefs, Bro-Bras and Spanx. Prices range from $30 for the briefs, to about $50 for the shirt. They can all be bought online or in most department or sporting goods stores. They come in black, white or natural.
So if you are a chubby guy who has some weight issues, men's girdle under wear could be for you.
You might look and feel so good, that you go out and buy that Gucci man -purse you've been looking at....Congratulations! You have now entered the wonderful world of the metrosexual.

I didn't think women even still wore girdles, and now the men are wearing them? Oy vey ...
Long live the girdle!
It's about time men had to suffer the agony of a girdle.
OMG! I have to tell my hubby this just to see his reaction...he'll go into a crazy rant for sure. :)
Thanks for explaining what metrosexuals are.. I have never known. I can't imagine a man wearing a girdle.. but to each his own.
I really don't know what to say. I guess if a man wants to wear one, he should be able to. I just can't imagine why anyone would want to.
I might have to get my hubby one of these. haha
Great aritcle!! Could never picture my husband doing any of that!
