Men Who Shave More Earn More and Report a Better Love Life

Shaving more can improve your finances and your love life according to a study released by Schick. Of course, Schick sells razors so that's bound to make them happy too. See which cities are the scruffiest and learn some reasons why men may want to shave more.

According to the Schick Skin-dex survey on shaving, a national research poll conducted by StrategyOne, men who shave more (at least 5 times a week) say they are happier (89% versus 82%) and have twice as much sex (15.5 versus 7.8 times a month).

For the female perspective, 82% of women reported a preference for cleanly shaven men. Irritated skin was named the third biggest turn-off right after body odor and dandruff. Curiously, 78% of women said they would rather kiss cleanly shaven men than scruffy men, but only 64% would rather have sex with cleanly shaven men than scruffy ones.

In this economy, it may be especially persuasive to note that Schick found that men who shave at least 5 days a week are twice as likely to be employed as those who shave only 2 days a week. On average, they earn $15,100 more per year. They are also much less likely to live with their parents.

So, how scruffy is your city? Washington DC and Los Angeles came in first with the most shaves per year at 198 each. Philadelphia and Atlanta ranked lowest with 161 shaves. Philadelphia, New York, and Los Angeles are the most bearded cities. Mustaches are most popular in Atlanta, New York, Los Angeles, and Dallas. Dallas also has the most soul patches while Atlanta sports the most sideburns and goatees. Boston and Washington DC are named the clean shave capitals at 31% and 29% respectively.

If all this makes you want to shave more, Schick claims that shaving is the hair removal method preferred by most dermatologists. The Schick website has tips for men for to get a close, comfortable shave. You can also read all about the history of shaving. Pity early man who tried to get rid of stubborn facial hair with stones and clam shells. Learn the origins of the word "barbarian" in reference to men of unshaven societies now stigmatized for being unbarbered.

Even if you don't improve your love life or earn more, it may still be good for men to shave more, and Schick razors beat those clam shells. Shaving keeps your skin in good condition by removing dead cells and exfoliating your skin for a more vibrant look.
