Menards is great home improvement chain. They have all the wood and tools and building supplies you expect as well as appliances and some furniture. They go further than the other big home improvement stores with an excellent selection of cleaning products, snacks and pet supplies. They have everything you need, not just to build or maintain your home and yard, but to keep house. Menards prices are good and they have a price guarantee - if you find something cheaper bring in the Ad and they will beat it by 11%.
This week we received Free Alley Cat Cat Food (don't have a cat? Donate it to the animal shelter), free duct tape, free Blacktop crack filler, free Rain Ponchos, Free Rainx Automotive Wipes to keep the fog off the windshield, Free automotive car wash including wheel cleaner, car wash and tire shine, Free Crayola Total Tools, Free Floor Cleaner and free cotton throw rugs. Besides free after rebate, some things are just really cheap after rebate. We also bought items that were really cheap including Scotts Liquid Gold, Gumout fuel injector cleaner (which we need regularly), Jar Candles (will be a great gift for someone), LED Crank light Flashlights (for tornado season), Polo Shirts, and Hawaiian Punch.
Every week for years we have collected a variety of free items to stretch our budget. We give many of the items as gifts. My relatives have received gift baskets of scented candles, tools or flashlights and batteries. We have not paid much if anything for batteries in a long, long time. We have an abundance of screwdrivers, measuring tapes and other hand tools. When we need something, it's usually waiting in the basement on the tool bench. Excess items may be sold at our garage sale. Recently, Menards put out a donation bin for our local food bank allowing you to donate items you can spare to your local food pantry right then and there.
Filling out the rebates is simple and you can even use address labels so you don't have to fill out your name and address on each form. You can send multiple rebates in one envelope so your cost for free items is just sales tax and postage to mail in the rebates.
Some people think I'm nuts for buying so many things. If you don't need a new set of screwdrivers right this minute, don't buy it, even if it is free. I disagree! Having things on hand when you need them and having things to share with others is great and it means I don't have to go out and spend cash when the item is needed later. There is nothing I won't buy for free at Menards.
